ZM Wrestling Staying Busy This Spring

There is plenty of activity continuing into the spring for the ZM wrestlers.  Many have been attending freestyle/Greco practices in Mazeppa, Stewartville, Cannon Falls, Rochester, Simley, Kasson, and Augsburg College.  Some have been attending tournaments from Apple Valley to Cannon Falls and all the way to Cedar Falls and Council Bluffs, IA!  Several wrestling community members also found time to give back and help clean up road ditches along Highway 52 that ZM Wrestling adopted years ago.

Virginia Beach Nationals Results

The Cougars represented MN well at the NHSCA High School Nationals in Virginia Beach, VA this weekend. All the boys won at least one match in this very competitive tournament full of the nation’s best high school wrestlers! Congratulations to Caden Steffen on becoming a National Champion and All-American!

6 Cougars are representing Team MN in Virginia Beach, VA this weekend  at the 28th Annual NHSCA National Wrestling Championships.

State Tournament action starts on Thursday, March 2nd. The Cougars will meet Kenyon-Wanamingo in the first round @11am.

  • The AmericInn in Inver Grove Heights is running a “ZM Wrestling Special” with a rate of $99 on Wednesday, March 1st. Please call 651-486-2196. Accommodations include free continental breakfast, swimming pool, and shuttle service by request. First come, first serve…rooms will fill fast! 
    • No school on Thursday, so come have some fun and cheer on our Cougars! 

 

  • A room block is also being set up for Thursday & Friday, more details to come soon.
  • T-shirts are underway, stay tuned for pricing & info.

 

 

 

Section 1A Team Tournament

The Cougars are in action again tomorrow- 1pm @ the Mayo Civic Center. They will be wrestling Dover-Eyota in the Section 1A semi-finals. Finals are @ 3pm…Let’s fill the stands and cheer the boys on to earn a trip to the state tournament! Good Luck and GO COUGS!

It’s that time of year again…some of the best wrestling of the season is upon us! Come cheer on the Cougars tomorrow night in Mazeppa in their quarter-final match vs the winner of GMLOS & Lake City. The winner moves on to the semi-finals at Mayo Civic Center, 1pm Saturday. The full bracket is below.

Triangular Tonight!

The Cougars will host a triangular with Cannon Falls & Kasson-Mantorville tonight in their last 2 duals of the regular season!  Come cheer on the #3 (A) Cougars as they take on the Bombers & the #1 (AA) Komets-there are sure to be some great matches! There will also be a ZM Wrestling clothing raffle. Let’s pack the gym…GO COUGS!

Glencoe Tourney Team Champions!

The Cougars were dominant in their season debut, placing 1st of 9 teams, with 13 placewinners and 5 individual champions. The Cougars also earned the sportsmanship award. Great job, guys!
