It’s that time of year again…some of the best wrestling of the season is upon us! Come cheer on the Cougars tomorrow night in Mazeppa in their quarter-final match vs the winner of GMLOS & Lake City. The winner moves on to the semi-finals at Mayo Civic Center, 1pm Saturday. The full bracket is below.

Our youth Wrestlers of the Week are Braxton Dohrn, Owen Lexvold, and Jack Krier. Braxton is in kindergarten and son of Bryce and Annalisa Dohrn. Owen is in 1st grade and son of Chris and Lacey Lexvold. Jack is a 5th grader and son of Mark and Sara Krier. Finish the season strong boys!
Monday- Final youth grade-based practice. PreK-3rd at 5:45. 4th-6th at 6:45.
Thursday- Youth open mat at 6:00. High School vs. winner of GMLOS and Lake City at home at 7 PM.
Saturday- High School Team Section Tournament at Mayo Civic Center. Section 1A semi-finals at 1 PM, finals at 3 PM.
Sunday- Jr. team tournament in Waseca.
Monday- Youth K-6 team tournament in Kenyon.
The Cougars will host a triangular with Cannon Falls & Kasson-Mantorville tonight in their last 2 duals of the regular season! Come cheer on the #3 (A) Cougars as they take on the Bombers & the #1 (AA) Komets-there are sure to be some great matches! There will also be a ZM Wrestling clothing raffle. Let’s pack the gym…GO COUGS!

Two ZM youth wrestling teams took part in the St. Charles dual tournament on Saturday. The Junior team (K-3rd grade) earned 2nd place with wins over St. Charles and Rochester Mayo while falling short in the championship to KW.
The Senior team (4th-6th grade) earned 5th place, falling in the first round to Chatfield but finished with 2 wins over Goodhue and Rochester Mayo.
Our youth Wrestlers of the Week are Jacoby and Rylan Brown, Jent Beyer, and Isaiah O’Reilly. Rylan is in PreK and Jacoby is a kindergartner, both are sons of Tony and Deanne. Jent is in 3rd grade and son of Seth and Tracey. Isaiah is a 6th grader and son of Shanon and Kelly. Great job boys!

Saturday- Youth individual tournament in Lakeville. JV at Lake City.
The youth team competed in Kasson on Sunday going 3-2 to earn 4th place out of 16 teams. The wrestlers were able to top Chatfield, Ellsworth, and Caledonia while falling to Dover-Eyota and GMLOS. Lots of close matches and duals all day!
Our youth wrestlers of the week are Soren Scharnweber, Keagan Lowrie, and Ryan Lexvold. Soren is in PreK and son of Ed and Kathryn. Keagan is in 3rd grade and son of Justin Lowrie and Kari Lowrie. Ryan is in 6th grade and son of Chris and Lacey Lexvold. Great job boys!

Thursday- Youth Jr. and Sr. Team practice at 5:30 PM. High School @ Triton.

Sunday: MN/USA Qualifier in Cannon Falls.
Thank you ZM Wrestling family for helping make our home tournaments a success this weekend! 301 elementary wrestlers participated on Friday night. Everything ran smoothly without a complaint and were done by 9 PM! A special thanks to Donnie Dahl for hauling mats.
After having wrestled Friday, several parents have asked about other tournaments their wrestler can participate in. Our youth wrestlers of the week are Colton Nelson, Owen Warweg, and Colby Dohrn. Colton is in kindergarten and son of Mike and Tracy. Owen is a 1st grader, son of Adam and Marianne. Colby is in 4th grade and son to Perry and Carrie. Keep up the good work!
Reminders to youth parents and wrestlers: if you haven’t picked up your clothing yet you may do so at practice on Tuesday night. We will be hosting a scrimmage with Goodhue on Thursday, January 12th. You can sign your wrestler up on the sheets in or near the wrestling rooms.
