Thank you ZM Wrestling family for helping make our home tournaments a success this weekend!  301 elementary wrestlers participated on Friday night.  Everything ran smoothly without a complaint and were done by 9 PM!  A special thanks to Donnie Dahl for hauling mats.

After having wrestled Friday, several parents have asked about other tournaments their wrestler can participate in.  There are many individual tournaments remaining starting with one in Kenyon this Saturday.  For a full list of tournaments, you can visit https://theguillotine.com/open-tournament-calendar/.  I also try to list the local tournaments on our calendar, and highlight tournaments in the Upcoming Events section each week.

Our youth wrestlers of the week are Austin Garcia, Jacob Moran, and Cole Lohmann.  Austin is in PreK and son of Antonio and Amber.  Jacob is in 1st grade and son of Mark and Emily.  Cole is in 5th grade and son of Jason and Liz.

Tuesday- Youth practice.  100 Takedowns.  Don’t forget your pledges!  PreK-3rd at 5:45.  4th-6th at 6:45.
Thursday- Youth open mat at 6 PM.  High School @ Hayfield.
Saturday- Youth individual tournament in Kenyon.  High School at Bloomington Kennedy.
Sunday: Youth team in Kasson.  Individual tournament in Rochester.

Our youth wrestlers of the week are Colton Nelson, Owen Warweg, and Colby Dohrn.  Colton is in kindergarten and son of Mike and Tracy.  Owen is a 1st grader, son of Adam and Marianne.  Colby is in 4th grade and son to Perry and Carrie.  Keep up the good work!

Reminders to youth parents and wrestlers: if you haven’t picked up your clothing yet you may do so at practice on Tuesday night.  We will be hosting a scrimmage with Goodhue on Thursday, January 12th.  You can sign your wrestler up on the sheets in or near the wrestling rooms.

The newest group of 5002 Club members were introduced last week in front of the home crowd prior to the ZM vs DE match.  19 youth wrestlers completed the challenge this past summer/fall.  Members include: Isaac and Samuel Moore, Lucas and Cole Schiell, Jent and Leo Beyer, Colby and Chase Dohrn, Ben and Carl Murray, Ryan, Cain, and Owen Lexvold, Lincoln Toombs, Isaiah O’Reilly, Kaleb Lochner, Ryan Stimets, Cody Anderson, and Gunner Mancilman.

20 youth ZM wrestlers competed in Goodhue on Saturday.  We had kids of all ages and experience participate.  Each one wrestled hard and displayed outstanding sportsmanship, win or lose.  Proud of you boys!

The 2016 5002 Club members will be introduced in front of the home crowd prior to the dual with Dover-Eyota on Thursday night.  Come join us in recognizing these young wrestlers in this great accomplishment!

Our youth wrestlers of the week are brothers Levi and Jacob Matthees, Max Rockne, and Ben Murray.  Levi is in kindergarten and Jacob is in PreK.  They are sons of Jeff and Michelle.  Max is a 1st grader, son of Matt and Nicole.  Ben is in 5th grade and son to Matt and Martha.

ZM Wrestling Fans- the HS dual meet season starts this Thursday against Class A #1 ranked KW in Pine Island at approximately 6 PM.  Get down to PI and cheer on the #5 ranked Cougars in this much anticipated match!  ZM vs. PI will follow.  The Cougars will also wrestle in the tough MN Christmas Tournament on Friday and Saturday in Rochester at UCR Sports Center.  39 teams from 5 different states!

The wrestling rooms were abuzz with excitement this week as our youth season got under way.  Our wrestlers of the week are Lucas Stahosky, Ryan Tupper, and Wyatt Mulder.  Lucas is in PreK and son of Aaron and Ashlee.  Ryan is a 3rd grader, son of Matt and Joleen.  Wyatt is in 5th grade and son to Luke and Missy.  Congrats boys and keep up the good work!

The youth wrestling season officially kicks off tomorrow night!  Grades PreK and K start at 5:45 PM in the old wrestling room.  Grades 1st through 3rd at 5:45 PM in the new wrestling room, followed by grades 4th through 6th at 6:45 PM.  A reminder that their fingernails should be trimmed and to carry in the shoes they will wear during practice.  We welcome parent help during practices.  Not registered yet or want more information?  E-mail youthcoordinator@zmwrestling.com.

Joey Majerus led a preseason youth practice again last Monday.  Joey selected Ryan Stimets as the Wrestler of the Week.  Ryan is in 5th grade and son of Paul and Lisa.  Thanks for your help Joey and congratulations Ryan!
