Get out and support our high school wrestlers this week as the team tries to earn a trip to the state tournament!

Our youth Wrestlers of the Week are Braxton Dohrn, Owen Lexvold, and Jack Krier. Braxton is in kindergarten and son of Bryce and Annalisa Dohrn. Owen is in 1st grade and son of Chris and Lacey Lexvold. Jack is a 5th grader and son of Mark and Sara Krier. Finish the season strong boys!

Upcoming Events (February 13-20)

Monday- Final youth grade-based practice. PreK-3rd at 5:45. 4th-6th at 6:45.
Thursday- Youth open mat at 6:00. High School vs. winner of GMLOS and Lake City at home at 7 PM.
Saturday- High School Team Section Tournament at Mayo Civic Center. Section 1A semi-finals at 1 PM, finals at 3 PM.
Sunday- Jr. team tournament in Waseca.
Monday- Youth K-6 team tournament in Kenyon.

Youth Jr. Team Runners-Up; Sr. Team 5th in St. Charles

Two ZM youth wrestling teams took part in the St. Charles dual tournament on Saturday. The Junior team (K-3rd grade) earned 2nd place with wins over St. Charles and Rochester Mayo while falling short in the championship to KW.

The Senior team (4th-6th grade) earned 5th place, falling in the first round to Chatfield but finished with 2 wins over Goodhue and Rochester Mayo.

Our youth Wrestlers of the Week are Jacoby and Rylan Brown, Jent Beyer, and Isaiah O’Reilly. Rylan is in PreK and Jacoby is a kindergartner, both are sons of Tony and Deanne. Jent is in 3rd grade and son of Seth and Tracey. Isaiah is a 6th grader and son of Shanon and Kelly. Great job boys!

Youth Team Takes 4th in Kasson; Our Youth WOTW

The youth team competed in Kasson on Sunday going 3-2 to earn 4th place out of 16 teams. The wrestlers were able to top Chatfield, Ellsworth, and Caledonia while falling to Dover-Eyota and GMLOS. Lots of close matches and duals all day!

Our youth wrestlers of the week are Soren Scharnweber, Keagan Lowrie, and Ryan Lexvold. Soren is in PreK and son of Ed and Kathryn. Keagan is in 3rd grade and son of Justin Lowrie and Kari Lowrie. Ryan is in 6th grade and son of Chris and Lacey Lexvold. Great job boys!

Garcia, Moran, Lohmann are Youth WOTW; 100 Takedowns This Week!

Thank you ZM Wrestling family for helping make our home tournaments a success this weekend! 301 elementary wrestlers participated on Friday night. Everything ran smoothly without a complaint and were done by 9 PM! A special thanks to Donnie Dahl for hauling mats.

After having wrestled Friday, several parents have asked about other tournaments their wrestler can participate in. Our youth wrestlers of the week are Austin Garcia, Jacob Moran, and Cole Lohmann. Austin is in PreK and son of Antonio and Amber. Jacob is in 1st grade and son of Mark and Emily. Cole is in 5th grade and son of Jason and Liz.

Our youth wrestlers of the week are Owen Mehrkens, Cooper Meyers, and Cody Anderson. Owen is in kindergarten and son of Josh and Ashley. Cooper is in 2nd grade and son of David and Britney. Cody is in 6th grade and son of Clint and Nicole.

ZM Youth Team Places 3rd; Dodd, Rolland, Moore WOTW

The youth team competed in Cannon Falls today going 4-1 to earn 3rd place out of 16 teams. The wrestlers were able to top Cannon Falls, LPGE/B, Rochester Mayo, and GMLOS, while falling to KW. Great team wrestling with a lot of heart!

Our youth wrestlers of the week are Conner Dodd, Aidan Rolland, and Issac Moore. Conner is in kindergarten and son of Matt and Jen. Aidan is in 2nd grade and son of Richard and Heather. Issac is in 5th grade and son of Scott and Brenda.

Nelson, Warweg, Dohrn Are Youth WOTW

Our youth wrestlers of the week are Colton Nelson, Owen Warweg, and Colby Dohrn. Colton is in kindergarten and son of Mike and Tracy. Owen is a 1st grader, son of Adam and Marianne. Colby is in 4th grade and son to Perry and Carrie. Keep up the good work!

Reminders to youth parents and wrestlers: if you haven’t picked up your clothing yet you may do so at practice on Tuesday night. We will be hosting a scrimmage with Goodhue on Thursday, January 12th. You can sign your wrestler up on the sheets in or near the wrestling rooms.

Introducing the 2016 5002 Club

The newest group of 5002 Club members were introduced last week in front of the home crowd prior to the ZM vs DE match. 19 youth wrestlers completed the challenge this past summer/fall. Members include: Isaac and Samuel Moore, Lucas and Cole Schiell, Jent and Leo Beyer, Colby and Chase Dohrn, Ben and Carl Murray, Ryan, Cain, and Owen Lexvold, Lincoln Toombs, Isaiah O’Reilly, Kaleb Lochner, Ryan Stimets, Cody Anderson, and Gunner Mancilman.

Matthees, Rockne, and Murray are Youth WOTW

20 youth ZM wrestlers competed in Goodhue on Saturday. We had kids of all ages and experience participate. Each one wrestled hard and displayed outstanding sportsmanship, win or lose. Proud of you boys!

The 2016 5002 Club members will be introduced in front of the home crowd prior to the dual with Dover-Eyota on Thursday night. Come join us in recognizing these young wrestlers in this great accomplishment!

Our youth wrestlers of the week are brothers Levi and Jacob Matthees, Max Rockne, and Ben Murray. Levi is in kindergarten and Jacob is in PreK. They are sons of Jeff and Michelle. Max is a 1st grader, son of Matt and Nicole. Ben is in 5th grade and son to Matt and Martha.

Stahosky, Tupper, and Mulder are Youth WOTW

ZM Wrestling Fans- the HS dual meet season starts this Thursday against Class A #1 ranked KW in Pine Island at approximately 6 PM. Get down to PI and cheer on the #5 ranked Cougars in this much anticipated match! ZM vs. PI will follow. The Cougars will also wrestle in the tough MN Christmas Tournament on Friday and Saturday in Rochester at UCR Sports Center. 39 teams from 5 different states!

The wrestling rooms were abuzz with excitement this week as our youth season got under way. Our wrestlers of the week are Lucas Stahosky, Ryan Tupper, and Wyatt Mulder. Lucas is in PreK and son of Aaron and Ashlee. Ryan is a 3rd grader, son of Matt and Joleen. Wyatt is in 5th grade and son to Luke and Missy. Congrats boys and keep up the good work!
